What an interesting way to start my new blog… Hypothyroidism… NOT!!!
“Thyroid” just seems like one of those funny words where you inject steroids into your thighs… Thy + Roid… (laughter + applause)
Apparently hyperthyroidism is the “inflamation” of the thyroid gland, which is located around the throat area… If you go to wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyroid you can see an illustration diagram of the exact organs location within your body. I would have posted the image here directly, but i wasnt exactly sure how to insert it into THIS very section (so that the whole thing made sense).

Now, I think i had seen pictures of this condition before, though i thought it was only prevalent in 3rd world countries… But apparently not!!! About 5% of American women get it within a year of giving birth. I have attached a picture or a young girl who has it, though it may pop up somewhere randomly on the page.

If you have a look at the image of the girl, hypothyroidism looks like SEVERE PAIN!!! (I tell you what… she’d hate to be wearing a tie! — Sorry, I KNOW this is NO laughing matter)
And 5% of women get this?!? Man, WHY don’t we hear about hypothroidism if it so prevalent?? And can ONLY women get it??
Plus, I dont quite understand WHAT it has to do with giving birth… Holding their breath during contractions???
Is this WHY they ALWAYS tell women to “BREATH”!?! So that their throat doesnt swell up and cause hypothyroidism? — I know it seems silly, though caould it be TRUE? It kind of makes sense… (In a screwed up kinda way…)
Anyway, (to fill you in, on WHERE this all came from) I stumbled across “hypothyroidism” (on the web) while i was doing some research on “infomercial style copywriting”, where I stumbled across the following site: hypothyroidism.ds4a.com
…And I suppose like ALL good infomercials (yeah right!), this got me thinking… Plus, the information on that site lead to another one which was selling information (good ‘ol infomercials hey?!)…
Information that i DIDNT quite want to PAY for… – Hey, Im curious, but in not THAT curious… Which wikipedia.org became my next source, though the stuff is too hard to understand at 4 in the morning… So I came up with a “miracle” idea (to save me time – and satisfy my curiosity)… – WRITE a blog about it, and get people to PROVIDE you with the information (and not in medical jargon)…
So, If ive caught your interest (in any way), and you’d like to shed some light down MY end of the corridor, then by-all-means… PLEASE do so. If not, then I hope I’ve entertained you for a few minutes of your day…
Plus… you may want to bookmark this page as it’ll keep you updated with the random (and sometimes ‘trivial”) bits of data that float around in my head…
…Just, like Jacks Medulla Oblongata!
Thanks for visiting!
